A Novel Timing Synchronization Method for DCO-OFDM-Based VLC Systems

Being sensitive to synchronization errors, symbol timing is a key factor affecting the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) -based visible light communication (VLC) systems. A novel method based on odd-even symmetry for direct current biased optical OFDM (DCO-OFDM) investigated in this paper. The proposed produces an excellent pulse-like metric, resulting sharper peak at correct place, while values other parts are negligible. approach assessed by measuring root mean squared error (RMSE) and absolute (MAE) offset estimation bit rate (BER) computer simulation. simulation results show that superior typical methods DCO-OFDM, such as Park Guerra method, various channel environments.
